Old blog, new life!

Hello, hello.

So. Perhaps you have noticed and scratched your head about the new look and title of this blog. (Ah, my good old blog *sighs wistfully*). Or you haven't, thus you probably couldn't care less about my next reassurance: The nature of this blog will, more or less, remain the same. After all, the name isn't all that different; it still centers around the cinematic experience, but as I find myself venture further into the strange corners of visual culture and media consumerism, I thought it should signify more than just my cinephile tendencies.

(And no, it isn't spelled wrong. It's a pun... As in: Reel Life Wonderer = Real Life Wanderer... Get it?)

Anyways. My reasons for this come from a long-standing wish to become a more serious blogger (who still occasionally rants and throws in the odd, sarcastic remark).

So, I gave it some serious thought and decided that my original title and URL were nice enough (still close to my heart considering how much I've grown since I first started) but not really that telling of everything my blog encompasses or where it could be heading. Having a short URL that corresponds with the title is a clear advantage as it appears less confusing and easier to remember for readers when they try to find my blog (I hope).

I'm also considering and reading up on the methods of migrating a blog, as well as the pros and cons of moving to a self-hosted blog. I've gotten little to zero traffic these last two years, for some reason (no blame on you guys), and though I'm no whiz when it comes to SEO optimization, I've grown increasingly dissatisfied with many aspects of Blogger. It does have some (free) benefits but simply lacks certain intuitive features to make for a more neat blogging and reader experience on a whole (such as adding related articles below each post, and linking to my other SoMe sites).

If I so decide in the unforeseeable future, hopefully I will be able to transition smoothly without losing my loyal reader base. (That is... if I've found a short-cut through the jungle of all that technical stuff by then). 🙏

Here's hoping this new venture will bear fruit, and thanks again for staying with me on this weird bus ride of a blog; full of sporadic stops, inconsistent routes and odd pick-ups. 🧐

M.
